Objectives are set and we are one step ahead!
Martin B. Papay Jr., the Founder & Executive Director of Maharlika International School during the school’s 7th Graduation and Recognition Program on March 28, 2015 conversed with parents about some of his institutional plans for the school.
Initially, he highlighted the opening of the 9th grade this coming school year 2015-2016. The said year level is part of the Junior High school based on the K to 12 curriculum of the Philippine education system.
This program as defined by the Official Gazette of the Department of Education of the Republic of the Philippines covers Kindergarten and 12 years of Basic Education (six years of Primary Education, four years of Junior High School, and two years of Senior High School) to provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills development, employment and entrepreneurship.
This educational program is shared by most learning institutions worldwide in the hope of raising graduates who will be self-reliant and competitive individuals in the future.
Being the only Philippine School Overseas in Timor-Leste, MIS has the permit to adapt and implement such academic program. The opening of the 9th Grade this coming school year ushers the opening of additional grade

levels in the years to come to
complete the prescribed holistic education of the youth.
Further, the Founder & Executive Director shed a light on his long term goal of establishing courses such as Accounting, Business and Management (ABM) which will cover basic to advanced accounting education, business and commerce, economics and entrepreneurship among others which he himself is fully aware of given his years of comprehensive experiences in the business world.

He pointed out that education indeed is not
simply a knowing of facts but more so of applying learnings in the real world.
With this, he reiterated the need to create learning opportunities especially
for the youth of Timor-Leste to make a difference and help in building a better
and stronger Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
With that in mind, Mr. Papay announced the
building of new classrooms to cater to the needs of the growing Maharlikan
population. Better school facilities were also discussed to enhance the
learning of students. In addition, hiring of teachers is also ongoing to
prepare the institution for the said program.
The parents were supportive toward these ideas and they commended such progressive thinking of the Founder and Executive Director. The dialogue created a wonderful exchange of ideas between the two parties.
