2021 Graduation, Moving-Up and Recognition Message from the Founder & Executive Director

T oday is a joyous day amidst these trying times! Please allow me to express my utmost  gratitude to everyone and my warmest felicitations too on this remarkable day! The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has brought drastic changes not only in East Timor but the entire world. It has created challenges and difficulties in the society that we live. Many aspects of our lives have been greatly affected and in this context, the educational process of the human person. Educational institutions were not spared. We have seen over the year the changes that everyone has to adapt in the light of elucidation and of progress. Classes were modified to comply with the protocols and guidelines of the government, health and education authorities; and due to lockdowns declared by the government, the teaching-learning processes were reformed. During the remaining two (2) months of the Academic Year 2020-2021, our students stayed and learned in their homes while their teachers taught in their own places. Tech

MIS Revives its Outreach Program

Through the initiative of Maharlika International School’s Founder and Executive Director, Martin Banaken Papay Jr., the outreach program of MIS was revived in order to extend a little help for those badly hit by the heavy rainstorm in Dili on April 4, 2021. The wrath of the heavy rainstorm left many homeless and were provided with a temporary shelter in various evacuation centers in the city. They also lacked of food, water and other essential goods. On April 7, 2021, Mr. Papay appealed to the Maharlikan parents of their donations in support to the MIS’ Outreach Program with the theme "Relive the Spirit of Extending help and Concern for Others" which is also known as a BAYANIHAN culture/custom in Filipino Language. Their support is invaluable to the success of this activity. MIS Receives Large Donations

1 JULY 2020- Today, another blessing poured out MIS as generous parents donated large amounts of disinfectant solutions and materials, personal protective equipment and other essential supplies useful for the school's preventive measures against Covid-19. To account the said donations, there are:  5 gallons of Alcohol (25 litres each)  15 pcs. of Ultraviolet Lamps or UVC lamp Virus Killer  2 Thermometer Scanner  170 pcs. of face shields  15 bottles of Disinfectant Gels  2 big Manual Disinfectant Sprayer  15 small Disinfectant Sprayers/ Spray bottles  Mr. Shi Teng Fei and Lin Dong Yang made it a mission to share their blessings for the benefits of many especially the MIS students. MIS's Founder & Executive Director Joins the Roster of its Faculty

The Founder and Executive Director of MIS, Martin Banaken Papay Jr. joins its faculty to teach in Grade 12 this Academic Year 2020-2021. For the first semester, Mr. Papay will be teaching Applied Economics and Fundamentals of Accountacy, Business & Management 1 while Principles of Marketing and Fundamentals of Accountancy, Business & Management 2 for the second semester. These are specialized subjects in Grade 12 for the General Academic Strand (GAS). Mr. Papay finished his Bachelor of Science in Accountacy (BSA) in 1996 and Bachelor of Science in Commerce (BSC) major in Economics in 1998. He holds NC-III on Bookkeeping from the Technical Education, Skills and Development Authority (TESDA), a Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT) and a Qualified Internal Auditor (QIA). MIS Starts Face to Face Classes on June 30

Having successfully passed the joint ocular inspection conducted by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) and the Ministry of Health (MoH), MIS is set to start its face to face classes on June 30 for Academic Year 2020-2021 after the orientation and dry run regarding the implementation of the health protocols and preventive measures against COVID-19 on June 29 to be observed by MEYS and MoH.  However, due to the continuing threats and challenges brought about by the unforeseen enemy not only in the host country, Timor-Leste but the entire world, MIS shall reopen its classes by adapting the "NEW NORMAL" for schools and the health protocols set by MEYS and MoH. MEYS and MoH Carried-Out Ocular Inspection at MIS

Inspection of Classrooms on Physical Distancing June 25, 2020- In light of the joint ministerial decree by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS), and  through the recommendation from  Mr. Jose Azori Campos, Department Head of Basic Education- MEYS, an ocular inspection at MIS was carried out. It was conducted by Ms. Emilia Ayati de Sousa, Acting Head of SSK MoH-Comoro, Mr. Renato da Cruz Silva, SSK MoH-Comoro, and Mr. Fernando da Cruz, from MEYS-Dili. The objective of the said inspection is to ensure that schools are observing and practicing the established health protocols against COVID-19 from the Ministry of Health before the reopening of classes. MEYS Conducts Pre-Inspection at MIS

Mr. Jose Azori Campos, Deparment Head of Basic Education-MEYS with the MIS's School Principal and Staff June 24, 2020- Mr. Jose Azori Campos, Department Head for Basic Education from the Ministry of Education, Youth & Sports (MEYS) of the Municipality of Dili visited MIS and made a pre-inspection of its compliance to the health protocols against COVID-19 for the reopening of schools after more than 2 months of closure during the state of emergency. The MEYS provides checklist of requirements to be complied by all schools in the country prior to the reopening and conduct of face to face teaching and learning process. Mr. Campos told MIS management and staff that the actual inspection will be done by the Ministry of Health (MoH). His role is to endorse an ocular inspection to the MoH so that MIS can resume its operation after their approval.
